In 2014, World Connect invested in Kallpa Warmi, a rural women's group in Ecuador, to create a business to make and sell recycled crafts. Their business success catalyzed additional funding and ventures, including a catering business, tourism collective, and community bank. The Kallpa Warmi group exemplifies the power of women who unite to support one another.
Soap Making
Clean Hands, Healthy Futures in Nyabirehe With $7,565 in grants from World Connect, teachers in Nyabirehe, Rwanda, were trained in soap making to combat intestinal worms that kept students out of school. Thanks to this effort, the infection has been eradicated. The community co-invested $5,749 and raised an additional $10,850, allowing the local primary school to build a soap factory, sell soap, and donate it to families in need. This video captures how community collaboration and global support are improving health and education for future generations.

World Connect - Fashion
With a $4,875 investment from World Connect, Our Sisters Opportunity is training women in fashion design to increase their income. The community co-invested $2,650 and raised an additional $14,580, helping hundreds of women gain job skills and secure employment in fashion and tailoring. Financial independence is transforming their lives, elevating their status, and reducing violence against them. Now, Our Sisters Opportunity is taking the next step—building East Africa’s first-ever ethical fashion school.
